Maths

I have always loved teaching Maths.  In school, I was the Maths Co-ordinator or Maths Leader and I am also a Grade A Key Stage 2 SATS Exam Marker.  I have a lot of experience of preparing children for the SATS (the end of Key Stage tests).

Many children find Maths difficult - this is where I can help.  I am highly skilled at identifying gaps in learning and misconceptions. I am also able to explain complex concepts in ways which are easy to understand.  This results in my tutees making accelerated progress.

Maths is taught differently in Primary Schools compared to Secondary Schools.  Being trained in Primary Education means that I teach in ways which are suited specifically to children in the primary years. I also have fun, interactive Maths equipment which children either love to handle in person, or engage with on screen. This really cements their understanding of otherwise abstract concepts.

I follow the latest National Curriculum and Government initiatives and I invest heavily in the most up-to-date teaching resources for both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

I have a large bank of resources and also order in brand new workbooks and packs of test papers.  I select the workbooks from an excellent range covering all Programmes of Study.

I offer Maths tuition for children in Key Stage 2 (years 3-6). When required, I revisit objectives from Key Stage 1 (years 1-2). For children in year 6, I also offer SAT preparation which includes the completion of test papers.

You can choose between tuition in person (in a purpose-built teaching room in the grounds of my property) and online tuition.

 

Tuition in person:

I politely request that for hygiene reasons, children do not eat during my lessons in person because they will be handling equipment. Also, no dogs are to be brought onto the property.

Online lessons:

I mainly use Skype, FaceTime or Microsoft Teams. All resources are posted out. I do not ask parents/carers to pay for the postage costs for online lessons.
